2. Smiling can go a long way when bartering
Did you know that when you negotiate, smiling can actually help you get a very good item without having to offer something that has the exact same value in return?
What happens when you smile is that you manage to ease the tension and put the other individual at ease. As a result, the entire process is much more relaxed and simple. However, you need to make sure your smile is not faked, since if the seller realizes this, then it won’t work. Some people are just very good at telling whether you’re faking or not, so be sure that you try as much as possible to crinkle your nose and your eyes correctly, in the same way you would in a situation that actually brings you happiness, excitement and joy. 3. Mind your posture
When negotiating, a lot of people have an aggressive posture and think that using it will intimidate the seller and make him consider closing the deal for a lower price. To achieve “mirroring” you need to say, do and act in a way that is favored by the individual you’re trying to barter with.
Use certain words he likes, use examples he loves and don’t forget to match your tempo and tone to the one they’re using.
5. Flinching is a good thing
You need to show a slight negative reaction to the very first offer the seller makes and when it comes to it, you need to give it a good thought. It may be that you’ll raise your eyebrows, slightly frown or maybe gasp a little, but whatever it is, you need not overdo it. Regardless of each of the three you choose, you need to learn how to perfect it, since this will immediately make the seller backtrack and offer you a better deal.
